Award of contract for "Santa Rosa Street: Murray to Highland -
Median Landscape Project" ; City Plan No. K-01Y
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
By motion approve the award of a contract in the amount of
$28,444.00 to Karleskint-Crum for installing irrigation on the
Santa Rosa Street Islands and authorize the Mayor to sign
contract documents.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were open on June 23 , 1988 for Santa Rosa Street Irrigation
Project K-01Y. Bids were received from four contractors (bid summary
attached) . The low bid of $28,444 submitted by Karleskint-Crum is
within the available funding.
During the processing of the encroachment permit Cal Trans has added
a requirement to remove or fracture the concrete under three sections
of the islands. This work will be accomplished as a change order
that will cost approximately $5 ,000 .
Purchasing Procedure
Purchasing Control Procedure 403-3 - Projects costing more than
$5,000 applies to this project .
Concurrences
This project has been given an EIR clearance by the Planning
Department. Status: Categorical Exemption.
Fiscal Impact
Contractors Bid: $28 ,444
Engineer's estimate: $31 ,500
Contingency: 6,000
. Total bid plus contingency $34,444
This project was included in the 1985-87 Capital Reinvestment Program
and was carried over to the 1987-88 Capital Reinvestment Program
budget. Fund number 905 (Santa Rosa Landscaping Project) has $37,000
at present. Additional funding may be required for actual landscaping.

Recommendation
