HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/13/1988, 4-E - CAPITAL PROJECT 9605 - REGIONAL FIRE TRAINING FACILITY MEETISEP AGENDA L� MEMORANDUM DAi E 813 ITEM # BGG TO: John Dunn, CAO FROM: Lew Schmutz, Battalion Chief/ VIA: Erwin Willis, Acting Fire Chief DATE: September 1, 1988 SUBJECT: Capital Project 9605 - Regional Fire Training Facility A contract was awarded to Richmond, Rossi, Montgomery Design Group in September 1987 to complete schematic design and final design for the Regional Fire Training Facility located on Goldtree Road. The final design is a two phased project. Phase 1 - This phase includes preliminary drawing from structural, civil, mechanical and electrical engineers to obtain detail cost estimate. This phase will be approximately 60% of total design phase work. These cost estimates will be used for presentations to other agencies and private industry in an effort to obtain agreements for joint participation in the regional fire training facility project ($35,980.00) Phase 2 - This phase would complete the final design and would only be implemented after Council approval and firm written financial commitments from other agencies and private industry have been made ($37,150.00). The schematic design was completed in the Spring of 1988. The final design and cost estimates were completed in late August 1988. There is a scheduled meeting between participating agencies (SLOFD, CDF & Cal Poly) to review all plans, drawings and cost estimates on September 20, 1988. After the September 20th meeting, the participating agencies will solicit financial participation from other public and private agencies. The development of a joint powers agreement between all interested agencies will be completed prior to implementing phase 2 of the project. As of July 1, 1988, the financial liabilities with Richmond, Rossi, Montgomery has amounted to $42,090 leaving approximately $5,000 left on the contract. This money will be used to develop the necessary materials to show interested agencies and assist with the presentations. The remaining money ($21,000) in the CIP budget for this project will be used for Phase 2 when implemented. LLS:pjs p5-(48)
