SUBJECT:
Submittal of Plans and Specifications for "Waterline Reconstruction
Project: Morro St. - Monterey to Higuera, City Plan No. M-28P. "
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Plans and Specifications, Authorize Staff to Advertise for
Bids, and Authorize CAO to Award Contract if Bids are Within
Engineer's Estimate.
BACKGROUND:
The existing water main in Morro Street between Monterey and Higuera is
in a deteriorated condition which requires periodic maintenance. This
project will abandon the existing 6" waterline and replace it with a
new 10" waterline. This project is listed in the Capital Improvement
Plan on page E-7.
This project has been given an EIR clearance by the Planning
Department. Status: Categorical exemption.
SIGNIFICANT IMPACT:
Base Bid: $37, 000
Contingencies: 4 . 000
Total: $41, 000
This project is included in the Capital Improvement Plan of the 1989/91
Financial Plan (page E-7) .
CONSEQUENCE OF NOT TARING RECOMMENDED ACTION:
The substandard condition will remain and costs may be higher at a
later date.
ACTION RECOMMENDED:
Approve plans and specifications, authorize staff to advertise for
bids, and authorize CAO to award contract if bids are within the
Engineer's Estimate.
