SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT RECOMMENDATIONS TO
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
The Council has accepted with regret the resignations of Patrick Gerety and Robert
Rosenberg. After reviewing applications and conducting interviews, the Council Liaison
Subcommittee is pleased to recommend the appointment of Lee Ann Hagmaier, whose term
will expire on March 31, 1992. Leslie Vartanian is the second appointee and because the
term she is assuming will expire on March 31, 1991, we ask that her appointment be a four
year period expiring March 31, 1995.
Applications for the appointees are attached. Copies of applications for those not selected
are available in the Council Office for review.

Recreation Board is very important. I bring almost 10 years experience in the
horticulture industry and 3 years experience in the management of the nallidet

would be a valuable asset to the Board. I would also ePfoy serving the
community of San Luis as I value this area as my home.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
1987 to present Resident Caretaker, Dallidet Adobe —
Responsrble for the administration of California
Historical Landmark #720, a one -acre classic California perennial garden estate.
Administrative duties include the research and renovation of the gardens, training and
retaining twenty garden volunteers, and developing educational slide shows used for
fuming purposes. Responsible for security of the building and grounds. Fiduciary
responsibilities included submitting a budget and allocating funds for re
maintenance, and acquisition of plant materials. Planned and executed the majority of the
construction and renovation projects. Coordinated projects with Board of Directors and
organized special events,
1982 to 1988 Vartanian Landscape — Self-employed maintenance contractor. Maintained commercial and
residentail properties including model homes and large residences. Qualified for State
Contractors license in 1984 — then designed and built projects from $2,000 to 515,000,
the majority of which were redesign and renovation. Worked in all construction phases,
especially carpentry. Managed work crews of 5 -10 men.
Summer 1981 Intern at Carlton Bros. Nursery, McMinnville, Oregon — Worked in all phases of nursery
Production, including greenhouse propagation, field budding, and container divisions.
1980-1991 Student Foreman — appointed student foreman of the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Crops Unit
Farm. Supervised 10 to 15 employees, trained new workers, made up daily work rosters
and worked in the field and shop as needed.

Administration candidate with a concentration in Personnel and Management.
