IIMIIIVllllllull r MEETING DATE nu►► cityo san suis osispo COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT NUMBENUMBER:I'E"" ' /J FROM: Ken Hampian, Assistant City Administrative Officer61-- Prepared by: Alison Lloyd, Administrative Analyst Q SUBJECT: Consideration of language change to Resolution no. 6808 approving a request by the Women's Shelter for City sponsorship of a State Planning and Technical Assistance Grant including a $6, 000 cash contribution by the City. CAO RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution replacing Resolution No. 6808 authorizing the City Administrative Officer to sign the grant agreement. DISCUSSION: The City Council adopted a resolution on May 15, 1990 to approve City sponsorship of a State Planning and Technical Assistance grant in the amount of $24, 000 for the Women's Shelter Program. The grant funds will enable the Women's Shelter to contract services for the purpose of identifying and purchasing a permanent shelter site. Approval also included a $6, 000 cash contribution by the City. The State has tentatively approved the grant application provided that a minor change is made in the resolution regarding signature authorization. Although Resolution No. 6808 authorized the City Administrative Officer to act on behalf of the City in all matters pertaining to the application, the language did not specifically authorize him to sign the grant agreement. If the resolution is changed to include this wording, the agreement is expected to be approved by the State. FISCAL IMPACT: Adoption of the resolution will ensure that the State Planning and Technical Assistance grant agreement is approved. The provisions of the agreement include a $6, 000 cash contribution by the City from the General Fund. The City will have the option however, of contributing the funds at any time during the grant period which will not expire until April 30, 1993 .
