SUBJECT: 1991 Street Chip Seal Coat Project, City Plan No. R-04A
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
By Motion approve Plans and Specifications for the 1991 Street Chip
Seal Coat Project, City Plan No. R-04A; Authorize Staff to advertise
for bids; Authorize the CAO to Award a contract if within Engineer's
Estimate.
BACKGROUND:
The Preliminary FY 1991-93 Financial Plan, Streets Pavement Operating
Budget provides $175,000 for Chip Seal Coats during FY 1991-92. The
project defined by these specifications proposes to accomplish 10 miles
of chip seal coatings and lane line replacement with the funds provided.
The Pavement Management Plan calls for 10 miles of street to be Chip
Sealed each year. By sealing this amount of pavement the required 8
year frequency will be maintained to provide protection of the pavement
from deterioration by sun, air and water.
Purchasing Procedure
The provisions of Purchasing Control Manual Section PC-403-3 apply to
this contract.
Fiscal Impact•
Engineer's estimate $170, 000.00
Contingencies S 5. 000. 00
TOTAL PROJECT COST $175, 000. 00
Funds Available:
The Preliminary FY 1991-92 budget provides $175, 000 in the Streets
Pavement Operating Budget (pg. D-49) for this project.
