PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD
(Not to exceed 15 minutes)
Immediately following roll call, members of the public may address the City Council
on items that DO NOT appear on the printed agenda. Please observe the time limit of `1
three minutes. A speaker slip (available in the Foyer) must be filed with the City Clerk
prior to the beginning of the meeting.
As a general rule, action will not be taken on issues not listed on the agenda. Staff will
generally be asked to follow-up on such items. The Council is interested in hearing from
the public regarding issues or concerns of the community and welcomes your input. `—
BUSINESS ITEMS
1. BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (DUNN/123-1 HR.)
Consideration of the formation of a Bicycle Advisory Committee.
RECOMMENDATION: By motion,provide direction regarding committee size, staff
assistance, and the tasks and future role of the committee. ;

appropriate standard advertising. The committee would be charg;d with: 1)
prioritization and recommendation of amendments to the 1985 Bicycle Facilities Plan
and bring back for Council approval as may be necessary; 2) rca-iew of funding
opportunities, including Proposition 116 and others; and 3) evaluate the need for a
permanent bicycle or alternate transportation committee
2. OPEN SPACE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (JONAS/123-1 HR.)
Consideration of the composition and appointment of an Open Space Advisory
Committee.
RECOMMENDATION: By motion, 1) approve the creation of an Open Space
Element Advisory Committee composed of individuals from the Park and Recreation
Commission, Architectural Review Commission, local neighborhoods, property
owners outside the city, business and community groups; and 2) request the
Community Development Department to work with these groups to garner nominees
from which the City Council will make appointments, as recommended.

the meeting unless special circumstances are found to exist. Formal action or approval is
not preferred and such items should be continued to the next Regular meeting.
