SUBJECT: Appointment to Advisory Committee on Joint Recreational
Use of School District Property
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
By motion, appoint Larry Voss to fill the vacancy on the
Advisory Committee on Joint Recreational Use of School
District Property for term to expire on March 31, 1993
and to forward recommendation on to the SLCUSD Board of
Trustees for concurrence.
BACKGROUND:
The Advisory Committee on Joint Recreational Use of School District
Property (JUC) is a technical committee which advises the City of
San Luis Obispo and San Luis Coastal Unified School District on
uses and development of school district property for recreational
purposes. One vacancy currently exists on the Committee with the
appointment of Wendy Pyper to the Parks & Recreation Commission.
One application for the JUC was received, from Larry Voss. Mr.
Voss is a university administrator at Cal Poly State University and
has lived in San Luis Obispo for over 20 years. He has been
involved in many community activities, particularly with SLO Youth
Baseball. Mr. Voss has expressed an interest in long-range
development of recreational facilities and is willing to serve on
this committee to assist in future planning. Mr. Voss' previous
advisory body service was with the City's Personnel Board. i
Upon council approval, the candidate's name is to be forwarded to
the Board of Trustees of San Luis Coastal Unified school District
for concurrence as appointment needs acceptance by both governing
bodies.
RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint Larry Voss to fill the- vacancy on the Advisory Committee
Committee on Joint Recreational Use of School District Property for
term to expire on March 31, 1993 and to forward recommendation on
to the SLCUSD Board of Trustees for concurrence.
