Statler, Director of Finance Prepared By: Vi Sheldon, Accounting Supervisor SUBJECT: SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY CAO RECOMMENDATION Adopt a Resolution declaring two motorcycles listed in Exhibit A as surplus property. DISCUSSION Section 906 of the City Charter requires that the City Council approve the sale or disposal of surplus property with an estimated value greater than $100. The Police Chief has identified the motorcycles listed in Exhibit A as surplus vehicles. These vehicles have been replaced in accordance with the replacement guidelines (cost of operation, maintenance status, and vehicle condition) in the City's Fleet Management Program. Accordingly, it is recommended that the Council adopt a resolution declaring the property listed in Exhibit A as surplus property. Section 408-A of the Finance Management Manual describes how items may be disposed of once declared surplus. Paragraph E of Section 480- A authorizes the Director of Finance to dispose of surplus property to another local government agency"based on the recommendation of the Department Head." In accordance and upon the recommendation of the Police Chief the two motorcycles will be sold to the City of San Mateo Police Department. It is anticipated that the City will receive $1,600 in proceeds from this sale. I ATTACHMENTS Resolution declaring property listed in Exhibit A as surplus property. EXHIBITS A. (1992 Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO DECLARING PROPERTY LISTED IN EXHIBIT A AS SURPLUS PROPERTY BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby declares that all items of property listed in Exhibit A attached and incorporated herein by reference are surplus property. SECTION 2. Disposal of the property shall be made as determined by sale at public auction or by another method of disposal in accordance with the City's surplus property policy as determined by the Director of Finance to be in the best interest of the City.
