SUBJECT: The appointments to the Art -Acquisition Policy Committee
for the Performing Arts Center
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council appoint Lon Lundberg and Kathryn
Luckett as City-designated members of the Art Acquisition
Policy Committee
Background:
The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center is receiving numerous
offers from people who want to donate art to the Center.
Representatives of the Foundation, University and the City believe
that an Art Acquisition Policy Committee is needed to develop
policies and procedures for accepting or declining such offers.
The membership of the Committee would consist of two
representatives each from the Foundation and the City and three
nominated by the University.
Discussion:
The Foundation has asked that we consider the nomination of two of
their volunteers who live in the City of San Luis Obispo, Lon
Lundberg and Kathryn Luckett. They are First Wave members (donors)
and have indicated that they have sufficient time to devote to
Committee business. The City Council will subsequently be asked
to consider and endorse the policy recommended by the Committee.
I am placing this matter under the Consent Agenda portion of the
agenda on the assumption that the City council may desire to
consider the appointment of the San Luis Obispo residents nominated
by the Foundation. However, if the Council desires to consider
other appointments, then the matter should be pulled from the
Consent Agenda and the Council would then discuss a process for
making appointments.
