COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT ITEM NUMBER:C-3
FROM:

Prepared by: Bill Coates, Project Engineer,,;`
SUBJECT:
Sewerline Improvement Project: Marsh Street Siphon at San Luis
Obispo Creek between Osos and Santa Rosa, City Plan No. S-07R.
RECOMMENDATION:
By motion approve plans and specifications for "Sewerline
Improvement Project: Marsh Street Siphon at San Luis Obispo Creek
between Osos and Santa Rosa, City Plan No. S-07R, " authorize
soliciting of bids and contract award by CAO if the lowest
responsible bid is within the Engineer's estimate.
DISCUSSION:
The sewerlines on each side of the siphon at San Luis Obispo Creek are
in a substandard condition and continually require maintenance to
insure that wastewater flows are maintained. The pipe at each end of
the siphon will be replaced with a new configuration which will insure
that an unobstructed flow condition is achieved without the need for
continuous maintenance.
CONCURRENCES:
The Community Development Department has given this project a
categorical exemption.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer's estimate for this sewerline is $29, 145 plus $3 , 000 for
contingencies, making the total $32 , 145 for this project. The CIP for
1991/92 (page E-7) is $370,000, the bulk of which is available at this
time.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Proceed with the project as planned.
2. Defer project to future.
Plans and Specifications are available
in the Council office for review.
