SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO AREA AGENCY ON AGING
Mayor's Recommendation
Appoint Ms. Joan Lawrence to a two year term on.the Central Coast Commission for
Senior Citizens, Area Agency on Aging Board of Directors.
Background
The Bylaws of the Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens, Area Agency on Aging
require that five of the twelve members of its Board of Directors be elected by
recommendations from five local political organizations, one being the City of San Luis
Obispo.
The majority of the Board is over the age of 60. Members are committed to working for
the needs of elders, must have the ability to make important decisions concerning those
needs, have credibility within their communities, and be able to fulfill the time and energy
required to carry out the Board's activities.
Due to the expiration of Ms. Joan Lawrence's two year term, there is a vacancy on the
Board of Directors. Ms. Lawrence has indicated interest in continuing her service to this
organization. I am, therefore, pleased to recommend to the Council that Ms. Lawrence be
appointed to the Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens, Area Agency on Aging
Board of Directors for another two year term beginning July 1, 1992.
