L me COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT I NUMBER:
FROM:
Wayne Peterson, Acting Director of Public Works
Bill Hetland, Director of Utilities f'
Prepared by: Barbara Lynch, Engineering Assistant
SUBJECT:
Watermain Improvement Project: Peach - Broad to Chorro, City Plan
No. T03P.
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
By motion, approve plans and specifications for Watermain
Improvement Project: Peach - Broad to Chorro, City Plan No. T03P,
and authorize soliciting of bids and contract award by CAO if the
lowest responsible bid is within the Engineer's estimate.
DISCUSSION:
The waterline in Peach Street is currently a two inch line. This is far
below the standard for waterlines and is insufficient to provide adequate
fire flows. This project was included in a list of projects to be
completed this year. The Utilities department has requested that this
line be replaced and increased in size to an eight inch line. The Fire
Department has requested the addition of a hydrant.
CONCURRENCES:
The Planning Department has given this project a categorical exemption.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The engineer's estimate for the project is $36, 500. The CIP for 1992/93
(page E-7) includes $600, 000 for watermain improvement projects. $11, 000
has been spent leaving $589, 000 to support this project.
The City Council at the June 30th meeting determined that Utility CIP
projects go forward based on their independent funding.
(Plans and specifications are available in the Council Office for
inspection. )
