SUBJECT: Advisory Body Appointment to the Board of Appeals
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
By motion, reappoint Mike Hernandez to the Board of Appeals for a
four-year term ending March 31, 1997.
DISCUSSION:
The 1991 Edition of the Uniform Administrative Code (UAC) as
adopted by the City establishes the Board of Appeals, which is
created "to hear and decide appeals, orders, decisions or
determinations made by the Building Official relative to the
application of the technical codes".
Section 204 (a) of the UAC requires that the five members of the
Board of Appeals be "qualified by experience and training to pass
upon matters pertaining to building construction and building
service equipment and who are not employees of the jurisdiction. "
Mike Hernandez, whose original appointment to the Board will expire
on March 31, 1993, is recommended for reappointment. He is a
licensed contractor with broad experience in the construction
industry.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of the appointment will have no fiscal impact.
