Statler, Director of Financ Prepared By: Viona J. Sheldon, Accounting Supervisor SUBJECT: SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY CAO RECOMMENDATION Adopt a resolution declaring equipment as surplus property. DISCUSSION Section 906 of the City Charter requires that the City Council approve the sale or disposal of surplus property with an estimated value greater than $100. The following items are recommended for surplus by the Departments of Public Works, Police and Finance. ■ Public Works. The Public Works Director has identified eight vehicles as surplus to the needs of the City. Three vehicles were replaced in accordance with the replacement guidelines in the City's Fleet Management Program as reaffirmed by the Council on June 30, 1992 when specific replacements for 1992-93 were approved. The sale of the other five vehicles will decrease the City fleet in response to recent staff reductions. a ■ Police. The Chief of Police has identified two patrol vehicles as surplus to the needs of the Police Department. The sale decreases the police fleet due to recent staff reductions. ■ Finance. The Director of Finance has identified seven copiers and two printers as surplus to the needs of the City. The printers and copiers were replaced in accordance with the replacement schedule in the 1993-95 Financial Plan (page H-9). All items proposed for disposal are more fully described on Exhibit A- The disposal method will be in accordance with the City s surplus property policy as determined by the Director 'I of Finance to be in the best interest of the City. I FISCAL IMPACT i It is anticipated that the City will receive $26,325 in proceeds from the disposal of the equipment. ATTACHMENTS 1. Resolution declaring equipment as surplus property. 2. (1993 Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO DECLARING EQUIPMENT AS SURPLUS PROPERTY BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby declares 10 vehicles, 7 copiers, and 2 printers are surplus property. SECTION 2. Disposal of the property shall be made by sale at public auction or by another method of disposal in accordance with the City's surplus property policy as determined by the Director of Finance to be in the best interest of the City.
