Gladwell, City Clerk MEETING nW """"BERA 1 SUBJECT: Council Liaison Subcommittee Appointments RECOMMENDATION: By motion, approve Council Liaison Subcommittee appointments for one year to December 31, 1995 as recommended. DISCUSSION: Council Policies and Procedures and the Advisory Body Handbook prescribe the method of Council subcommittee appointments: "The Mayor and Vice Mayor shall submit recommendations to the full Council, rotating nominations for Council Member Subcommittees, thereby ensuring an opportunity for each member to serve as liaison at least once on each advisory body, when possible. When terms of office do not allow each member to serve once, members with greatest seniority shall have first right of selection." (CP &P §65.2, ABH §IH,C,6) As in past practice, we have not recommended rotations for liaisons for all the technical committees; this will allow Council Members to develop a higher level of expertise for some of the more complex committees. The Mayor and Vice Mayor have reviewed the appointments for 1993, 1994, and those proposed for 1995 and recommend the Council Liaison Subcommittee appointments as outlined in the attachment.
