SUBJECT:
Sewermairi Improvement & Street Reconstruction Project: Casa - Foothill to Montalban, Murray -
Casa to Sterner Creek, Specification No. 96-72.
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
Approve plans and specifications for " Sewermain Improvement & Street Reconstruction Project:
Casa - Foothill to Montalban, Murray - Casa to Sterner Creek, Specification No. 96-72 ", authorize
staff to advertise for bids and authorize the CAO to award the contract if the lowest responsible bid is
within the budget.
DISCUSSION:
This sewedine project will replace three existing lines in Casa Street. Some of the lines are currently
dedicated to Cal Poly to allow the City to meter their sewage and bill them accordingly. To reduce the
maze of lines, the metering station is to be relocated closer to Cal Poly and the number of lines in Casa
reduced to one new line. In addition to the number of lines, the existing lines are in poor condition and
require fiequent maintenance to keep them operating properly.
The Murray street project will reroute the existing flow. Currently sewage from Murray Street goes
out through a line under a private residence and out to Santa Rosa Street through the park This
project will connect it to the new main in Casa Street and through the park to a large main in
Montalban.
Upon completion of the sewerline work, the two streets will be reconstructed. Multiple trenches and
hard service have placed these streets in need of major repair. The project will also provide sidewalk
ramps and take care of some minor drainage and water service concerns.
