SUBJECT: SURPLUS CTTY PROPERTY
CAO RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution declaring equipment as surplus property.
DISCUSSION
Section 906 of the City Charter requires that the City Council approve the sale or disposal of surplus
property with an estimated value greater than$100. The following items are recommended for surplus
by the Departments of Public Works and Police.
■ Public Works. The Director of Public Works has identified one bus, four pickup trucks, a utility
vehicle, and one sedan as surplus to the needs of the City. Bus number 138 was purchased as
surphis from Los Angeles after it had already served its federally mandated twelve year useful life.
The bus has been used as a tandem and back-up service vehicle for the past three years. The City
has purchased a replacement bus that is currently in service. The other vehicles have been replaced
in accordance with the City's fleet management policy.
■ Police Department. The Police Chief has identified two motorcycles and a photographic enlarger
as surplus to the needs of the City. The motorcycles have been replaced in accordance with the
City's fleet management policy and are no longer being used. The Police Department no longer
does any photographic developing or enlarging and so has no need for the enlarger.
All items proposed for disposal are more fully described on Exhibit A The disposal method will be in
accordance with the City's surplus property policy as determined by the Director of Finance to be in the
best interest of the City.

FISCAL MPACT
