SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT RECOMMENDATIONS TO
THE ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMISSION
RECOMMENDATION
Appoint Charles Stevenson to a three-year term expiring 3/3/1/2001, Mark Rawson to a four-year
term expiring on 3/31/2002, and appoint one other nominee to a two-year unexpired term ending
3/31/2000. Reappoint Jim Aiken to a four-year term expiring 3/31/2002, and Curtis Illingworth to
a one-year unexpired term ending 3/31/99. Thank Woody Combrink,Linda Day and Laura-Joines
Novotny for their years of service to the commission.
DISCUSSION
Woody Combrink, whose term expires this year on March 31', resigned from the commission in
January. Subsequently, Linda Day and Laura Joines-Novotny announced that they, too, would
resign as soon as their seats could be filled. Their terms expire on March 31, 1999 and March 31,
2000, respectively. Terms also expiring this year are Jim Aiken and Curtis Illingworth. Both
desired reappointment, Mr.Illingworth to a one-year tern only.
After advertising and interviewing 14 applicants, the Council Subcommittee recommends the
following appointments be made:
Charles Stevenson to a three-year term expiring 3/31/2001
Mark Rawson to a four-year term expiring 3/31/2002
The subcommittee also recommends the reappointments of Jim Aiken to a four-year term expiring
on 3/31/2002,and Curtis Illingworth to an unexpired term ending 3/31/99.
Council Policies and Procedures state, "Ya ;unanimous decision for recommendation cannot be
reached the Council shall take a separate motion for each candidate proposed by each member of
the Council Liaison Subcommittee. "
• Council Member Roalman's appointment recommendation is:
Appoint Paul Wolff to a two-year term expiring on 3/31/2000.
• Council Member Williams' appointment recommendation is:
Appoint Lance Parker to a two-year term expiring on 3/31/2000.
Copies of recommended candidate applications are attached (new appointees), All other
applications are available from the Assistant City Clerk.
