SUBJECT: LIAISON REPORT
San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority (SLORTA)
At the SLORTA meeting of March 4, 1998 the Board directed staff to proceed with preparations
of an RFP for a consultant selection to study consolidation of the transit systems within the
County. After extensive input by City of San Luis Obispo staff,the work scope will include:
Phase 1 -Data collection update: a) Transit Systems update,b)Administrative savings
assessment, c) Service assessment, d) Governance assessment, and Phase 2 Development Plan.
It is anticipated the study will require one year for completion.
San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG)
At the SLOCOG meeting of March 4, 1998 the Board approved all necessary documentation and
direction to proceed with the installation of 120 call boxes along Highways 101, 1, 46 and 41.
The contract is flexible enough to allow these call boxes to be converted to provide full
accessibility to the hearing and speech impaired. When these disabled call boxes are available
this will be done without added cost to the COG. It is anticipated that the call boxes will be
installed by 7-1-98.
