SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION FOR APPOINTMENT
TO THE HOUSING AUTHORITY
RECONS ENDATION
Appoint Janet Kourakis to fill an unexpired term to end on March 31, 2001, and thank Donald
O'Connor for his service to the Housing Authority.
DISCUSSION
A vacancy now exists due to the resignation of Donald O'Connor, effective August 3, 1998. An
excellent candidate, Janet Kourakis, has submitted her application for appointment. She has
served the City for many years, most recently as a Planning Commissioner. I am very pleased to
recommend Ms. Kourakis for appointment to the Housing Authority. A copy of her application
is attached.

SUBJECT: Planning Commission Appointment
I wish to withdraw item A2 on the September 15, 1998 Council agenda.
Due to the fact that we will have two or possible three vacancies on the Planning Commission as
of December,and considering that Ken Schwartz Planning Commission Subcommittee member,
has not had a chance to interview the applicants on file, the Subcommittee has determined that it
will re-interview all current applicants. We will also include those persons who indicated their
interest in the recent City Council appointment,provided they wish to apply.
