SUBJECT: Water Improvement Project: Felton Lane - Tassajara to Ferrini; Rougeot -
Chorro to Westerly End, Specification No. 90031
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
1. Approve plans and specifications for "Water Improvement Project: Felton Lane - Tassajara
to Ferrini; Rougeot Place - Chorro to Westerly End, Specification No. 90031"
2. Authorize staff to advertise for bids.
3. Authorize the CAO to award the construction contract if the accepted bid is within the
Engineer's Estimate.
DISCUSSION:
This project is part of the City's ongoing program to replace waterlines to ensure reliable service
and minimize maintenance and emergency repairs. The projects are prioritized based on
maintenance history combined with other factors such as other work occurring in the area. This
project includes the replacement of 345 meters of water main in Felton Lane and 115 meters of
water main in Rougeot Place. Both waterlines, built in the 1950's, are undersized and have
outlived their useful lives requiring numerous repairs over the recent years.
CONCURRENCES:
Environmental review by the Community Development Department has resulted in this project
receiving a categorical exemption.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Both Felton and Rougeot waterlines are identified in the 1997-99 Financial Plan, Appendix B,
Page 55.
Construction Estimate: $172,000
Contingencies: 18.000
Total Engineer's Estimate: $1909000
Currently, there is $2,622,510.69 available in Water Distribution System Improvement fund to
support these projects. At the time a contract is awarded, a Budget Amendment Request will be
processed which will transfer the required funds from this account to the project account
