DISCUSSION On November 16, 1999, the Council voted 5-0 to introduce Ordinance No. 1361 to print, which authorizes an amendment to the City's contract with the California Public Employees' Retirement System to provide the 2% at 55 retirement formula for miscellaneous (non-safety) employees. Ordinance No. 1361 is now ready for final passage and will become effective thirty days after the date of its final passage. ATTACHMENT Ordinance No. 1361 C6-1 ORDINANCE NO. 1361 (1999 Series) AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO AUTHORIZING.AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO AND THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law permits the participation of public agencies and their employees in the Public Employees' Retirement System by the execution of a contract, and sets forth the procedure by which said public agencies may elect to subject themselves and their employees to amendments to said Law; and WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedures to amend this contract is the adoption by the governing body of the public agency of an ordinance authorizing the amendment and directing the Mayor to execute said amendment. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: SECTION 1. That an amendment to the contract between the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo and the Board of Administration, California Public Employees' Retirement System is hereby authorized, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto, marked"Exhibit", and by such reference made a part hereof as though herein set out in full. SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to execute said amendment for and on behalf of the City of San Luis Obispo. SECTION 3. A summary of this ordinance, approved by the City Attorney, together with the names of the Council members voting for and against it, shall be published at least five days prior to its final passage, in the Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in this City. This ordinance will go into effect at the expiration of thirty(30)days after its final passage.
