SUBJECT: CORPORATION YARD WAREHOUSE
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
1. Approve plans and specifications for"Corporation Yard Warehouse, Specification No. 99853"
2. Authorize staff to advertise for bids and authorize the CAO to award the contract if the lowest
responsible bid plus contingencies is within budget.
DISCUSSION:
As part of the 1997-98 Financial Plan, Council approved the construction of a warehouse at the
City's Corporation Yard. The warehouse was part of the original 1984 Corporation Yard plans but
was deleted due to budget constraints.
The warehouse is needed due to the premature deterioration of equipment from sunlight exposure
and weather and the lack of proper storage for bulk items.
The plans have been re-designed for a smaller structure, consisting of a 6000 square foot pre-
engineered metal building flanked on three sides by an awning to provide approximately 20
covered parking spaces for trucks and equipment.
The plans are currently being processed through the building department. The project will be
advertised once the building permit has been obtained.
CONCURRENCES:
The Architectural Review Commission has reviewed and approved the plans for the proposed
warehouse.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This project is included in the 1997/99 Financial Plan, Appendix B on Pages 226-228. Sources for
the project budget are as follows:

As shown above there is $368,265 budgeted for this project. To date $9,976 has been used for
design and soils test leaving an unencumbered balance of$358,289 available for construction and

inspection. The Engineer's Estimate is as follows:
Construction $315,000
Inspection and Testing 10,000
Contingencies $33,289
Total $3589289
Upon award of a contract, a budget amendment request will be processed transferring the remaining
funds in the design account to the construction account.
