City, and Verdin*, hereinafter referred to as Contractor
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, on December 18,2009 the City entered into an Agreement with Contractor for professional
services for community information and outreach per specification No. 90975; and
WHEREAS, per the terms of the Agreement, the Cify desires to extend the Agreement for one additional
year
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of their mutual promises, obligations and covenants hereinafter
contained, the parties hereto agree as follows:
The "Term" is modif,red as follows:
o The term of this agreement shall be from the date this Agreement is made and entered, as
first written above, and is extended until December l g, 2013.
The "City's Obligations" is modified as follows:
¡ For providing services as specihed in this Agreement, City will pay and Contractor shall
receive therefore compensation based on hours and materials billed in total not to exceed
$35,000 per year for the water conservation component and $5,000 per year for the storm
water component.

SUBJECT:Contract Extension for Verdin Marketing
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Amendment 1 extending the contract with Verdin* for one yeaï per the terms of the
agreement and in the amount of $40,000.
DISCUSSION
The Utilities Department entered into a contract with Verdin Marketing for professional services
associated with the department's public outreach and the City's stormñater pollution prevention
programs in December 2009. The number one goal in the Utilities Department's strategic plan isto communicate to the community the value of the services the Department provides, und th.stormwater public outreach is a requirement in the City's State approved Stormwater
Management Plan. The contract with Verdin Marketing has been instrumental in meeting thegoals and objectives contained in these plans.
The agreement allows for a one-year extension of the contract based on the performance ofVerdin Marketing, now named Verdin*, and upon City Manager's approval. Tı date, Verdin*has proven to be an exceptional partner by creating cost effectivã outreach concepts andmaterials' Examples are the designing and publishing oversight of the Utilities Department,squarterly Resource newsletter, creation of three innovative Public Service Announcements forthe stormwater program, and the development and implementation of the department,s social
media campaign' Because of the cooperative relationship built over the last three years, staff is
recommending a one year extension to the contract.

CONCURRENCE
The Public Works Department concurs with the recommendation in this report.
F'ISCAL IMPACT
The original contract amount in 2009 was for $47,000 of which $12,000 was for the City,s
stormwater outreach requirements. During the preparation and approval of the Z0lI-2013
Financial Plan, the stormwater budget amount for public outreach was reduced to $5,000
lowering the contract amount to $40,000. The recommended contract amount of $40,000 was
approved as part of the 20ll-2013 Financial Plan and is identified in the utilities conservation
and Municipal stormwater consulting services line item details.
ALTERNATIVES
The Cþ Manager could choose not to extend the contract and direct staff to solicit proposals for
these services. Staff would not recommend this at this time since Verdin Marketing has been
performing valuable services to the City
