SUBJECT: SIDEWALK REPAIR 2000-01
SPECIFICATION# 90189
CAO RECOMMENDATION
1. Approve plans and specifications for"Sidewalk removal and replacement."
2. Authorize staff to advertise for bids and authorize the CAO to award the contract if the lowest
responsible bid is within the engineer's estimate.
DISCUSSION
Each year the City funds a sidewalk repair and replacement program that is coordinated with the
adopted Pavement Management Program. This year the sidewalk repair program will, therefore,
concentrate in Pavement Management Area# 4. By coordinating sidewalk repair with the paving
program only one area of the city will be disrupted at a given time. This program works to
eliminate potential trip and fall hazards, disrupts but one area of town and helps assist the City of
San Luis Obispo in accomplishing it's goal of smoother and safer sidewalks for pedestrians.
CONCURRENCES
Community Development Department has given this project a categorical exemption.
FISCAL IMPACT
This is a yearly ongoing, $60,000, program funded by the General Fund. In the past this program
had a funding of $30,000. Council approved additional funding of $30,000 for the 2000-01
budget.
