HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/20/2001, COMM 1 - FURTHER REVIEW OF CITY-COPELAND MOA, PALM ST/COURT ST PROJECT MEETING AGENDA COMMMCATIONS DATE © ITEM# mid February'18, 2001 To: Councilcoli s Settle, Ewan, Marx,Mulholland From: Ken Schw Copies: Ken Hampian d City MOA team Re: Further review of City—Copeland MOA, Palm Street/Court Street Project Given the February 14, 2001 correspondence from Tom Copeland requesting Council consideration of proposed amendments to the MOA between the City and the Chinatown/Court Street Partners, I request that the Council direct the staff to review the requests of the Partners, consider the implications of said requests, and develop a recommendation(s)for Council consideration. Further,in consideration of the level of community and Council support previously given to this endeavor,that staff schedule its response on a Council agenda as quickly as possible. In my opinion,parking is the critical issue. I also believe strongly that the City should not suffer the loss of revenues currently flowing into the Parking Fund as to do so compounds the City's ability to provide further public parking and/or support alternative forms of access to our downtown. Whatever changes in the MOA might prove workable, it would be important that they not Emit the City's ability to move, on its own timetable,to commence construction of a City Hall`annex"on the French-Copeland property.
