PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA(not to exceed 15 minutes total) The Council welcomes your input. You may address the Council by completing a speaker slip and giving it to the City Clerk prior to the meeting. At this time, you may address the Council on items that are not on the agenda or items on the Consent Agenda. Time limit is three minutes. State law does not allow the Council to discuss or take action on issues not on the agenda,except that members of the Council or staff may briefly respond to statements made or questions posed by persons exercising their public testimony rights(Gov.Code Sec.54954.2). Staff may be asked to follow up on such items. Staff reports and other written documentation relating to each item referred to on this agenda are on file in the City Clerk's Office in Room 1 of City Hall. Sifu Kelvin Harrison reiterated claims of discrimination and harassment 1. ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO MODIFY THE RETIREMENT FORMULA FOR MISCELLANEOUS EMPLOYEES. (SLATE/ JENNY) RECOMMENDATION: Adopt a resolution of intention to modify the retirement formula for miscellaneous, non-safety employees through an amendment of the contract between the City of San Luis Obispo and the California Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), prior to the PERS deadline of June 30, 2002. ACTION. Resolution No. 9335(2002 Series)adopted. (4:0) Council Agenda Action Update Wednesaay, June 26, 2002 COUNCIL LIAISON REPORTS (not to exceed 15 minutes) Council Members report on conferences or other City activities. Time limit-3 minutes. Council Member Mulholland and City Administrative Officer Hampian provided an update on the Oceanaire-Huasna Area Public Improvement Project neighborhood meeting held on June 25, 2002. It was noted that there is strong community consensus for completing the project, but residents are divided on the issue of tree removals. Staff will contact each property owner and ascertain if they want their street tree preserved and will determine, on a case-by-case basis, if trees will have negative impacts on the public improvements if they are allowed to remain. Council Member Schwartz reported that next week the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments(SLOCOG) will be discussing the rejection by the State Department of Housing and Community Development of SLOCOG's request for a reduction in the City's housing allocation.
