Signature: ---- -.._ _....- -Date: 2 ATTACHMENT I ARC — Supplemental Questionnaire February 2, 2004 San Luis Obispo,Califomia 1. I want to serve on an advisory body because I want to serve my Community, I have the time and I care. 2. 1 want to be a member of the ARC because I feel that my broad range of experience as an Architect can contribute to the effectiveness of the Commission as a whole. My hopes? I hope that my involvement will enable the Commission to serve the Community, the City Council and the Staff in a concise yet flexible manner toward the goals of the City's design review process. 3. I am currently the co-chair of the ARC. I have also attended City Council meetings and City and County planning commission meetings. My observations? I feel it is essential to come to the meetings prepared, speak to the issue in a concise manner, avoid rambling discussion, put personal objectives aside and work closely with staff, all in an effort to achieve the City's Design goals. A smooth running advisory body can best gain and maintain the respect of the applicant, City Staff and all of those involved in the process. 4: I have designed small and large-scale projects for a varied clientele, including schools, commercial, retail and manufacturing. My experience also includes Historical preservation, streetscapes, sports fields and custom residential on difficult sites. In addition, I have experienced the "other side of the table"as an Architect, presenting to several review bodies. I like to think of myself as a good listener. 5. I believe a key architectural issue in SLO revolves around the definition of the word "quality". I believe quality can come in several forms. In the context of our City's natural beauty and geographic constraints we are given the opportunity to preserve:and enhance the unique character and"qualities"of San Luis Obispo. 74 Michael Boudreau MICHAEL T BOUDREAU AIA 854 MURRAY AVENUE SAN LUIS OBISPO CALIFORNIA,93405 895.549.0400
