Several of us from Judson Terrace Homes attended the City Counsel
meeting last Tuesday, April Oh. It was our intention to present this
letter and the signatures to the Council. However, upon arriving home
at Judson Terrace, we discovered the letter was still in our possession.
We are so pleased that the Council voted favorably on the issue of
approving the`Basic Cable." This new option will make cable service
affordable to many of our residents who have gone without it, due to the
monthly charge, now at $44.68 (total) ..
We wish to thank you for allowing our viewpoint to be heard and the -
fact that you addressed the agenda issue out of order to accommodate our
"early-to-bed ers"was very gracious!

RE: Council Meeting
April 6, 2004 7:00 p.m.
Agenda Item:
Development of a "Basic Cable"
package at a lower fee than the
"Full Service"package offered
by Charter Communications @
$44.68 per month
Dear Mr. Mayor and Council Members:
We learned on very short notice that a "Basic.Cable" package was to be
considered by you at this evening's meeting. While we would like to
represent our senior community of Judson Terrace Homes, in person, many
of us cannot, due to lack of transportation, or reduced vision for driving
after dark.
Please understand that this is an important issue to us elderly, trying to
make our Social Security income cover our needs. The present cost of cable
t.v. service is prohibitive. Many of our residents simply cannot have t.v. in
their apartments because $44.68 is too big a "bite" out of our fixed monthly
income. We simply go without t.v. Several of our residents are homebound
and have no family in the area. For those, t.v. would be their link to the
world and current events, allowing them to remain alert and interested in life
beyond their apartment walls and declining health. We do not need 55 or
more channels.
We feel that many new customers would subscribe to a "Basic Cable"
package at a reduced rate. Certainly that would happen in our population of
110 residents,,if the price didn't"break-the-bank.!" We are asking that you
favorably consider making a lower priced package of service available
within San Luis Obispo city limits.
Respectfully;

Please consider this list of signatures to be a continuation of the conclusion
of the letter on the previous page. We are all seeking a favorable decision
by the City Council in giving their approval to the proposal tonight, that a
"Basic Cable" package be made available within San Luis Obispo's city
limits. Thank you.
