TO City Council
FROM: David F. Romero
SUBJECT: Communication Item—Cork Oak Tree in City Hall Parking Lot
For many years, the cork oak trees in the City Hall parking lot have dripped sap on cars parked
nearby. During the recent reconstruction of the lot, one of the trees was removed, and it was
hoped that the other tree could be made healthy enough so that the dripping would be stopped.
The existing tree continues to drip, smearing windshields and requiring frequent washing of cars.
If the Council concurs, it could direct staff to remove the tree and replace it with a more
appropriate species.
