Mige COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT U
y , a/a/90
FROM: William C. Statler, Director of Fin nce Dixon Fl nn ce Systetbs Manager
SUBJECT: Sale of Surplus City Property
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the attached Resolution declaring the property listed in Exhibit A as surplus property
to allow the sale at public auction or by direct sale to other public agencies, or by another
method of disposal as determined by the Director of Finance to be in the best interests of the
City.
DISCUSSION
Section 906 of the City Charter requires that the City Council approve the sale of surplus
property with an estimated value greater than $100.
The Chief of Police has identified the property listed in Exhibit A as surplus to the needs of
the Police Department. Accordingly, the City Council must declare this property surplus to
the needs of the City and authorize disposal.
Under the City's property disposal policies, this property has been offered to other City
Departments, and no department identified their need for this property. After the Council's
surplus determination, this property will be offered to other local government agencies prior to
being sold at public auction. It is anticipated that $300 to $700 will be received in proceeds by
sale at public auction. The auction will be conducted by West Coast Auctioneers in March
of 1990.
