Statler, Director of Finance Dixon Flyn in nce Systems Manager SUBJECT: Sale of Surplus City Property CAO RECOMMENDATION Adopt the attached Resolution declaring the property listed in Exhibit A as surplus property to allow the sale at public auction or by direct sale to other public agencies, or by another method of disposal as determined by the Director of Finance to be in the best interests of the City. DISCUSSION Section 906 of the City Charter requires that the City Council approve the sale of surplus property with an estimated value greater than $100. The Director of Public Works has identified the property listed in Exhibit A as surplus to the needs of the Public Works Department. Accordingly, the City Council must declare this property as surplus to the needs of the City and authorize disposal before Staff may sell or otherwise dispose of the property listed in Exhibit A. Under the City's property disposal policies, this property has been offered to other City _ Departments, and no department identified the property listed as required for City services. ' After the Council's surplus determination, this property will be offered to other local government agencies prior to being sold at public auction. It is anticipated that $1,000 to $3,000 will be received in proceeds by sale at public auction. The auction will be con- ducted by West Coast Auctioneers in May of 1990. A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO DECLARING PROPERTY LISTED IN EXHIBIT A AS SURPLUS PROPERTY BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby declares that all items of personal property listed in Exhibit A attached and incorporated herein by reference are surplus property. SECTION 2. Disposal of the property shall be made by sale at auction, direct sale to other local government agencies, or as unsalable "junk" in a manner to be determined by the Director of Finance.
