By Motion approve Plans and Specifications for the 1990 Street
Chip Seal Coat Project, City Plan No. P-10A; Authorize Staff
to advertise for bids; Authorize the CAO to Award a contract.

BACKGROUND :
The FY 1989-91 Financial Plan, Streets Pavement Operating Budget
provides $162,000 for Chip Seal Coats during FY 1990-91 . The
project defined by these specifications proposes to accomplish 10
miles of chip seal coatings with the funds provided.
The Pavement Management Plan calls for 10 miles of street to be
Chip Sealed each year . By sealing this amount of pavement the
required 8 year frequency will be maintained to provide protection
of the pavement from deterioration by sun, air and water.
The FY 1987-89 Financial Plan, Bikeway improvements CIP provides
$20,000 for bike lane improvements . . This Chip Seal Project
includes Madonna Road from Oceanaire to Pereira specifcally to
provide for a bike lane on the north side of Madonna Road.
Purchasing Procedure
The provisions of Purchasing Control Manual Section PC-403-3 apply
to this contract .

Engineer's estimate $170 , 000 . 00

Funds Available:
The FY 1990-91 budget provides $162 , 000 in the Streets Pavement
Operating Budget (pg . D-39) for this project .
The FY 1987-89 CIP Bikeway Improvements (pg. E-7) will provide
$8 ,000.00 for the work on Madonna Road.
