SUBJECT:
Sidewalk Improvement Project: Meadow St. - Funston Ave and South
St. - Station 12+47 to 15+17, City Plan No. P-07B-RB.
RECOMMENDATION:
By motion award contract to Brinar Concrete of San Luis Obispo,
California in the amount of $40, 644.60.
BACKGROUND:
At its meeting of January 2, 1990 (item #5) , the City Council
authorized staff to advertise for bids and authorized the CAO to award
contract if bids are below engineer's cost estimate.
Bids were opened on May 17, 1990, the results of which are shown on the
attached bid summary sheet. Brinar Concrete of San Luis Obispo was the
low bidder with a bid of $40,664.60, which is $2,144.60 above the
engineer's estimate. The engineer's estimate for this project was
$38,500.00
SIGNIFICANT IMPACT:

Cote 13,201.60
McCarthy 14 .206.00
Total: $401644.60
City's share for this project will be taken from Account No.
001-5049-008-105. There is presently $28,300.00 available in this
fund. Funds for McCarthy and Cote will be taken out of the sidewalk
revolving funds. Funds for this program are included within the
Street/General Program (page D-40) of the 1989-90 budget.
