MODIFICATION TO CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS FOR 201 3
RECOMMENDATIO N
1.Cancel the Regular City Council Meeting of Tuesday, June 18, 2013, due to Specia l
Municipal Election and at the conclusion of the Regular City Council Meeting of June 4 ,
2013 adjourn to a Regular City Council Meeting on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 6 :00 pm .
2.Cancel the Regular City Council Meetings of Tuesday, August 6, and December 17 ,
2013 .
DISCUSSION
Election Nigh t
The Special Municipal Election has been called for Tuesday, June 18, 2013 . The Office of th e
City Clerk will be involved in processing and tabulating the ballots and will be unavailable t o
staff the meeting . In accordance with past practice, staff is recommending that the Regular Cit y
Council Meeting of June 18, 2013 be cancelled . Further, staff is recommending that at th e
conclusion of the Regular City Council Meeting of June 4, 2013 the Council adjourn to a Regula r
City Council Meeting on June 17, 2013 at 6 :00 pm .
Summer and Winter Schedul e
Since 1994 it has been the practice of the City Council to cancel a regular meeting in the mont h
of August and/or December . This custom allows the Council and staff members an opportunit y
to plan vacations and reduce meeting absences .
ALTERNATIVE
1.Council could decide an alternate date in June, after the June 12 th Special Meeting and
before June 25 th to hold a regular meeting at which to consider adoption of the budget .
2.Council could choose to cancel alternative meetings in August and/or December .
