Safari On-Line Demo Acting Director Fitzgerald presented the Commissioners with a visual training of the new on-line registration system the Department adopted for facility reservations and class registration. Commission discussed the item. 2. Ideas on Potential Facility Projects Acting Director Fitzgerald presented this staff report to the Commission. Staff prepared a list of possible projects for the Commission to build upon. Commissioners discussed the item and came up with the following list: Build a Laguna Lake Golf Course sign (at least a temporary wood sign) Build a Laguna Lake Park sign Make the Ludwick Community Center more “senior friendly” by gaining senior feedback Map at Open Space entries to show trails – i.e. Cerro San Luis, Bishop Peak, Reservoir Canyon, South Hills Laguna Lake Park design (wind shelter around BBQ table areas, redesign dog park, and delineators between dog park, BBQ, and restrooms) Landscape Pismo Street at Emerson Park Landscape at Meadow Park in greenbelt area along condos, add more trees Complete Sinsheimer Park Master Plan Improve Sinsheimer disc golf course Turn drainage channel at Meadow Park into a natural park feature Laguna Lake Park shore stabilization Naturalizing open area at Laguna Lake Park Complete Laguna Lake Master Plan Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes for January 4, 2006 Page 2 Improve pond at Bishop Peak Natural Reserve to look less “beat down” Erosion control of boulders at Bishop Peak Natural Reserve Provide a kiosk/board at Open Space entries for announcements, updates, maps, interpretive signs, etc. Improve the Highland entrance to Bishop Peak Natural Reserve Join/combine all elements at the Damon-Garcia Sport Fields Improve the Highway 101 entrance to the City from South County Address Laguna Lake Park and Meadow Park fitness areas Commissioners asked to have a study session with Parks & Recreation staff at their February meeting to prioritize both lists. Recommendation: Review and comment on the information provided to develop a list of potential facility projects. 3. Director’s Report Acting Director Fitzgerald briefed the Commission on the following projects: ▪ Update on all ongoing projects 4. Staff Report Todd Beights informed the Commission that a 200-ton crane will be at the Mission Plaza on January 6, 2006 to remove a fallen pine from the creek area. 5. Committee Reports Commissioners gave reports on Committees they attended.  Tree Committee –  Joint Use Committee –  Mayors Youth Task Force –  Jack House Committee –  Open Space –  Golf –  Therapy Pool – 6. Communications none 7. Adjourned The meeting adjourned at 8:23pm to the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on February 1, 2006 at the Ludwick Community Center.
