MINUTES
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13, 2001, 7:00 P.M.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT, 1341 NIPOMO
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Ron Batterson called the meeting to order at 7:36 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Chair Ron Batterson, Committee members Wes Conner, Greg Dillman, Bonnie
Marzio, Martha Schwartz, Marion Rodman and Penny Rappa.
STAFF: Elaina Cano, Rich Ogden, and Larry Tolson
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
CONSENT ITEMS:
M/S Committee members Dillman/Rappa to accept May 9 minutes with the correction made to
C. Member Comments; Committee member Rodman informed the committee that she discussed
with Jim's Campus Cameras ways to preserve the Jack House Photos. The motion was approved
unanimously.
M/S Committee members Rappa/Dillman to accept the June Financial Report. The motion was
passed unanimously.
ITEM #1: PRESERVING PICTURES
Anne Turner, Creative Memories, gave a presentation on how to preserve photos with the
Creative Memories product. $80.00 was the estimated cost for one photo album with the page
protectors. Ms. Turner said she would be willing to help with training and any other services
and/or consultations needed at an additional cost. Ms. Turner will be meeting with committee
members Rodman and Schwartz at a later date.
ITEM #2: AUGUST 5 ART IN THE GARDEN
Committee members Rappa and Dillman gave an update on the August 5 Art in the Garden
concert. Dillman also informed the committee that organizers from the Mozart Festival are
interested in a "fringe concert" at the Jack House in the future. Committee member Rappa
discussed and reviewed the proposed budget for the "Art in the Garden" concert.
M/S Committee members Conner/Rodman to accept the budget submitted including the $1,000
from the Parks and Recreation Department. The motion was approved unanimously. Committee
member Schwartz said the House would be open for tours with an emphasis on the art.

ITEM #3: FUTURE COORDINATION WITH PCC
Committee member Rappa informed the committee that the Council approved the $5,000 for
advertising. Rappa also discussed ways the Jack House committee might be able to work with
the PCC's marketing program for promotions.
ITEM #4: RICH'S REPORT
Rich Ogden, Recreation Supervisor, reviewed his submitted report with the committee.
* Restringing of Piano - M/S Committee members Schwartz/Dillman to have the piano re-strung.
Not to exceed $1,200. The motion was approved unanimously.
* Banning House Trip - The tour is scheduled for July 20, 2001. M/S Committee member
Conner/Dillman to accept the cost of $25 per guest; any other cost will be covered by the jack
House committee. The motion was approved unanimously. Ogden informed the committee that
he would be responsible for sending out the invitations.
ITEM #5: REPORTS AND UPDATES
A. Monthly Reports - Larry Tolson, Parks Maintenance Supervisor, reported that the funding for
the Carriage House, roofing and design process for the foundation was approved. Tolson also
reported that he would report back to the committee with more ideas for the outside lighting. The
committee requested to have the front steps touched up and some tree trimming before doing any
roofing.
B. Docent Activities - Committee member Schwartz reported that they had a tour of 71 3rd
graders. Schwartz also reported that the sliding door in the dinning room was stuck.
C. Dates to Remember - July 1 - 1st Summer concert
July 11 - Park Tour
July 20 - Banning House Trip
August 5 - Art in the Garden Concert
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
