HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-10-01 JHC Minutes JACK HOUSE COMMITTEE MINUTES WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2001 NOTE: SPECIAL TIME AND SPECIAL PLACE CORPRATION YARD @ 25 PRADO RD, CALL TO ORDER: Chair Ron Batterson called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: Chair Batterson, Committee Members Wes Conner, Penny Rappa, Marion Rodman, and Martha Schwartz. ABSENT: Committee Member Bonnie Marzio STAFF: Rich Ogden, Larry Tolson, Kim Walker, Heather Freebairn. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: There was no public comment. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES AND FINANCIAL REPORT: The minutes of the September 12, 2001 meeting were approved with the following amendments:  Item #1- Art in the Garden Financial Report should read “Committee Member Rappa”.  Item #4 - Reports and Updates should read, “options will be presented” and “Fire grenades”. The financial report of June, 2001, was accepted as presented. Item #1: Resolution of the Christmas Calendar Committee Member Schwartz presented Committee Members with copies of the Docent and Committee Calendars for the month of December. Committee Member Rappa proposed to maintain regular hours for December. No second. Committee Member Conner proposed to keep November 29, 2001 as the date to decorate the Jack House for the holidays. He further proposed to keep the Jack House decorated and maintain regular scheduled tours up to and including December 20, 2001. The holiday decorations could be taken down between December 31, 2001 and January 3, 2002. No second. On a motion by Schwartz, seconded by Conner, the Committee voted 6:6 to adopt the Docent calendar. Docent calendar designates the Jack House to be decorated for the holidays on November 29, 2001 and to be open for tours November 30, 2001 through December 2, 2001. Item #2 Advertising Plans for this Year Committee Member Rappa and Public Information Officer Walker discussed the Promotional Coordinating Committee (PCC) inclusion of both the Garden & Jack House brochures in their promotional packet for the City of San Luis Obispo. Walker requested money for additional costs. On a motion by Rappa, seconded by Batterson, the Committee voted 6:6 to release $500.00 in additional funds. Item #3 Donations for New York Disaster On a motion by Schwartz, seconded by Conner, the Committee voted 6:6 to donate the fees collected on Sunday, November 4, 2001 to the Red Cross Disaster Fund. Rich Ogden to ask Parks and Recreation Director Paul LeSage for the correct procedures. Item #4 Reports and Updates Recreation Supervisor, Ogden reported the following:  Piano restringing project has begun.  Cal Poly will not be doing the House Inventory Project. He has recommended a recreation staff member be assigned to this project. Committee Member Rappa has requested monthly updates. Parks Supervisor, Tolson reported the following:  Cal Poly poinsettias will be delivered Thursday, November 29, 2001 at noon. Committee Member Rappa reported the following:  Small rocking chair in the library needs to be repaired. Committee Member Conner reported the following:  Pittosporum Tobira in the front yard is dying.  Created a report for Michael Cripe, ASLA, Landscape Architect the construction project. Committee has requested a copy of the report to be attached to the next meetings minutes. Committee Member Schwartz reported the following  Jack House has been given a journal from the Jack Ranch. Frank Fox gave the journal to her, but at this time the author is unknown.  Luminaries have been secured and will be used to light the walkways for the holidays.  Five new Docents will be trained. Meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m. to the November 14, 2001 meeting at 7:00 p.m.
