Parks and Recreation Administrative Office
Wednesday, March 8, 2006 5:00 PM
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Ron Batterson called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Vice Chair Wes Conner, Committee Members Bill Pyper, John Tischler, Gerry
Johnson and Patrick Mayeda
GUESTS: Jackie Kane, Docent Chair
STAFF: Rich Ogden and Larry Tolson
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD:
There was no public comment.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES AND FINANCIAL REPORT:
The minutes from the February 2006 meeting were reviewed and accepted.
The Financial Report for February 2006 was presented and accepted.
ITEM #1: Installation of Bird Bath
Contractor is waiting for 5-6 days of clear weather to work on the Garden Improvement
project including the installation of the bird bath.
Bird bath base needs to be attached to a solid base. The memorial plaque will determine
the size of the pedestal.
Placement of the bird bath will be half way between the Avocado tree and the south end
of the wall.
o A motion was made to authorize up to $500 to install the bird bath, base and
plaque as part of the Garden Improvements Project.
Reports and Updates
Monthly Activities – Staff & Public Works
Rich Ogden Reported on the following:
o Invitations to the Advisory Committee Dinner were sent out.
o John Tischler has re-applied for the Jack House Committee.
Larry Tolson reported on the following:
o The Gift Shop has a new gutter. The cost was $450.
o Sod replaced the empty space from removed tree.
o The bench was delivered. It is black in color and made from Ipé hardwood.
o There has been no progress on the fire sprinkler system.

Docent Activities
Jackie Kane reported the following:
o Jackie will call Ken Schwartz to get the original water color for the card production.
o Docents will meet on March 9, 2006 for elections.
o The Docent roster will be updated soon. Jackie will send thank you letters to all
volunteers retired from the Docent roster.
o The Manse on Marsh may not be the best place for recruiting Docents, but
recruitment is ongoing.
o Stan McGuire resigned as Docent.
Member Comments
o Conner would like to decorate the outside of window shades with Victorian pattern
or image of what the inside looks like.
o Conner has requested the Gazebo been inspected for wood rot.
o Conner noted that the cut stump wood from the Magnolia tree is no longer needed.
o Conner would like to get Recreation Students involved in generating new activities for
Docents.
o Batterson would like an update from staff on the status of the new brochure.
o Batterson requested a conceptual drawing of the pump if it were to be placed back up
for display.
Communications
No communications were presented.

Recreation Administration Office.
