Jack House
Wednesday, September 14, 2005 5:30 PM
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Ron Batterson called the meeting to order at 5:36 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Chair Ron Batterson, Committee Members John Tischler, Gerry Johnson, Bill Pyper,
Absent: Vice Chair Wes Conner and Committee Member Patrick Mayeda
STAFF: Rich Ogden and Larry Tolson.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD:
There was no public comment.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES AND FINANCIAL REPORT:
The minutes of August 2005 meeting were approved.
The Financial Report for August were presented and accepted.
ITEM #1: Jack House Brochure
Staff will work with Bill Pyper on specifications for bidding purposes for printing of
the brochure.
ITEM #2: Expenses for the Year
Kim Walker’s memo was presented which explained the two funds that the Jack
House can use for expenses. Rich Ogden explained that the promotional fund
should really only be used for promotion and the Jack House fund for everything
else.
ITEM #3: Ideas and Wish List for the Gift Catalog
Ron Batterson and other members discussed possible items that could go in the
catalog and estimated amount that would help to complete the project. The wall-
$6,000-$8,000, the fence $2,000, the sign- 2,000 and the Elevator shaft- $50,000.
ITEM #4: Lighting and Electrical Element
Larry Tolson reported that he solicited three bids and heard back from two out of the
three. He met with Electric Craft and Select Electric and went over the proposed
locations for the new electrical outlets in the house. Larry discussed that the
location of the outlets will depend what is found in the walls once installation has
begun.
Final bids will be available at the October meeting.
Bill Pyper motioned to authorize up to $12,000 for the electrical work project in the
Jack House. It was seconded by Gerry Johnson. Motioned passed 4-0.
Reports and Updates
Monthly Activities
o Rich Ogden announced that the Docent Appreciation Dinner will be November 9th at the
Ludwick Center. .
o Rich Ogden talked about the Sequa Celebration and that the City would like to have a
representative of the Jack House Committee on the committee. Gerry Johnson agreed to
be the representative.

o Larry Tolson had no other reports.
Docent Activities
Jackie Kane reported on the following items:
o The Docents would like to look into getting the house cleaned on a quarterly basis. Rich
Ogden will present quotes at the October meeting.
o Jackie Kane asked to have the weather stripping on the front door of the Gift Shop
looked at.
o Now that stove is no longer in the gift shop, Jackie asked if shelving that is in the House
could be used.
o Jackie Kane mentioned that there will be no theme for Christmas this year.
o Betty Stockton announced that the calendar for Christmas open house should be
December 9th and the 10th Candle Light Tours 5-8pm not 5-7pm. The time for December
11th is correct.
o Betty Stockton also is proposing not to be open Dec 18th. The committee said that it
should be a decision by the Docents. Jackie Kane will poll the docents about being open
or not.
