REGULAR ITEMS
Reports and Updates
Monthly Activities – Staff/Public Works
Christine Wallace reported on the following:
• Looking for information about what the committee would like to do for a grand
reopening at the Jack House in April or May, 2009.
Batterson would like to consider possibly combining an event with Mothers Day,
if the timing is right. A nice concert or outdoor event.
Wallace may have access to additional funds for advertising since the Holiday
advertising budget was not used in 2008.
Kincaid asked if appetizers may be included in addition to cookies and punch
usually served.
Stockton offered the possibility of the short film presentation on period dress, but
the time of day or space may be a limitation. A fashion show or display may be
an option as well.
Gordon suggested a “Garden Party”. It would include vendors to showcase
garden products, games, etc. Spring is ideal time for avid gardener items and
topics. June may be too late in the garden season.
Kincaid said docents are brainstorming about ideas about new events for the Jack
House for different times of the year. She will get Christine Wallace a list of
ideas from the November docent meeting.

Stockton has children’s wooden rocking animals that may be used for a display
in the Buggy Shed (or anywhere) for any occasion.
Docent Activities
Toni Kincaid reported on the following items:
• Docents went on a field trip to the Pioneer museum in Paso Robles. They noticed and were
impressed by the carriage display and the style in which they displayed. The displays used
plexiglass so no docent was needed for the displays. Howard Jack was the first honored
“Pioneer” by Pioneer day committee in 1970.
• Docents also visited the Hollister Adobe. It is located near the baseball field on Cuesta
College campus.
• Dennis Judd will meet with Toni Kincaid on November 17th to discuss the Hollister Adobe.
• There was a Jack House presentation from the docents at the RAM luncheon on November
11, 2008. 50-75 men were in attendance. This was the Morro Bay group (officers club on
Camp San Luis) and this is one of 7 groups in SLO County.

projects at the January meeting.

• Stockton – thanked Batterson and staff for making the bedroom shade a priority. Staff
reported that it may not be hung before the completion of the construction project, but it is
on the “to do” list.
Communications
• No communications at this time.
Meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m. to January 14, at 5:30 pm at the San Luis Obispo Parks and
