REGULAR ITEMS
1. Mother’s Day Review - Burger
Discussion regarding Mother’s Day 2012 at Jack House Gardens. Perceived as positive event with
lower attendance than normal. Next year remind band to make announcements regarding free tours
of the house. Band was well received and should be invited to perform at next year’s event.
2. SLO County Band Discussion – Burger
Committee felt that agreement between Parks and Recreation/Committee and Curtis Reinhardt/SLO
County Band were not all upheld by Reinhardt/Band. Kinkaid voiced concern that event was not a
“community event” because of the entry fee. Committee agreed that potential for future event would
depend on a stricter compliance with agreement as well as providing a fund raising opportunity for
the House. Mayeda asked Burger to contact Dallidet and other similar venues that hosted SLO
County Band and inquire about who did the majority of the work for the events. Bryant Mills and
Dee Dee Mullner, docents, acted as “Mr. and Mrs. Jack.” If Committee is approached in the future,
Burger will present to Committee for further discussion.

3. Installation of New Stockton Tree– Burger
Betty Stockton contacted Todd Beights at Public Works, who located a Crepe Myrtle Tree to
replace the one that had died in the garden. The Stockton Family donated the cost of the tree and
was happy to be able to do so. The Committee is grateful for this donation.
4. Central Coast Bride Mixer – Burger
Kinkaid, Settle, Updegrove and Burger reported on event. Discussed positive aspects of event and
trying to do similar events in the future that spotlight the House and Gardens as a venue.
Gordon inquired about regular facility rentals and whether or not the City breaks even or makes
money on JH Garden rentals. Burger will inquire and report back at next meeting.
5. Promotional Material – Burger
Burger shared the new Celebrations Brochure. Gordon inquired about prices and wanted
clarification on “Garden Party” for over 50 individuals. Committee shared concern that the price
jump from that to a Reception was a large difference. Committee wants to pursue promoting the
venue for more events like Bridal Mixer, for small events during the week, as well as weddings.
Burger shared an example of a personalized champagne flute with the Jack House Logo. Parks and
Recreation staff would like to purchase these as an additional “perk” for couples that marry at the
Gardens, as well as a promotional piece; however, the logo did not reproduce well. The Committee
discussed changing the logo. Burger will investigate options and discussion will continue at the next
meeting.
6. Staff Reports and Updates: Parks and Recreation/Public Works
Burger reported on the following:
Amy Voorhies will no longer be taking minutes for the Committee. Burger will look for a

Tours that are booked through the facility desk as well as Sunday meetings.

Obispo Parks and Recreation Administration Office.
