Mitchell agrees to do the work on the Se.--,.rage Disposal Grounds of said City in accordance ;xtith the plans and specifications therefor approved by the Board_ of Trustees of said City, T'ebruary lot'- , 1901, and filed in the 'off'ice of the City Clerk of said City February 1st , 1901, to wit : the sewers, manholes, septic tank, contact beds, etc. , as called for in said plans and specifications, and to furnish all tools, labor and mater ials necessa-7r , except such as are mentioned in said specifi- cations to :be furnished by said City ; For which said City agrees to pay said F. C. C. Mitchell, the party of the second :part, :''ITNDSSETH:- That for the consideration hereinafter named, said F. C. Mitchell agrees to do the work hereinafter described in accordance with the plan and specifications therefor adopted by the Board of Trustees and filed with the City Clerk of said City on September i 10th, 1903. Said plan and specifications are entitled as follows:- Plan No. 2.. "Plan of Proposed Stone Arch over Stenner Creek in the *City of San Luis Obispo, California, Geo. Story, City Engineer, Sept. 1903. " Specifications No. 2. "Specifications for the Construction of a Stone Masorrury Arch over Stenner Creek in the City of San. Luis Obispo , California. " Said ??or.'{ is as follows: Constructing a stone masonry arch over Stenner Creek on Santa Rosa Street in said City, and furnishing all labor, tools, appliances and materials necessary for the proper completion of said work according to said plan and s,Decifications. For which the said City agrees to pay said F. C. Mitchell as follows:- Earth filling - 50 cents per cubic yard. Earth excavation - 50 ,cents per cubic yard. Rock excavation 90 cents per cubic yard. Rubble masonry - 08.00 per cubic yard. Arch masonry - 08.50 per cubic yard. The estimated price to be paid for said work according to the estimated an^ount of work to be done is $3355.43. The said F. C. Mitchell shall be paid only for the work actually- done, and the exact measurement of the different kinds of work done shall be determined by the City Engineer as provided in said specificat- ions. The work shall be paid for as provided by Section 18 of said specifications. Trustees of the City of San Luis Obispo. The petition of P. C . I:'itchell respectfully represents that on the 9th day of October, 1903 , he entered into a contract with the City of San Luis Obispo , for the_ construction of a stone masonry arch over Stenner Creek on Santa Rosa Street , which said work was to b,e completed within sixty days after the signing. of the contract . That he at once started upon said r;ork, and the same is now so far advanced that it is time for the erection of the centering for the arch. Tn order to properly support the arch it is necessary that the centering be very substanti ally constructed, and the same will have to be built in the bed of the creek. A heavy rain will cause a rise :)f the T,rater in the creek that `rill be sure to greatly damage if not totally destroy the centering and the partly completed worn. The rainy season is nov-- at hand , and ::terms can. be expected. at any time. To go on with the ,pork now would be dangerous both to the r;!ork and to people Tor!--i-ng thereon.
