erronous assessment on land of Mrs Mary McHenry be reftrred to the Finance Com-

ERINTENDENT.THE FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES OF THE ENGINEER, STREET SUPERINTENDENT AND
SUPERINTENDENT OF THE CITY WATER WORKS,.AND FIXING THE SALARY AND BOND AND DEFIN
ING THE DUTIES OF SAID STREET SUPERINTENDENT:
Be it ordained by the Couneil of the City of San Luis Obispo,as follows!
Section 14 The offices of Engineer,.8treet Superintendent eudSuperintend-
ent of the City Water works are hereby consolidated. The functions and duties of
of the Street Superintendent and-Superintendent of the City Waterworks and of the
Engineer are hereby liaced incharge of the Street Superintendent.
Section 2. The Street Superintendent ahall have charge of the waterworks
Of the City of San Luis Obispo, and all property pertaining thereto. He shall
have charge of all Public Streets, alleys,avenues, ways, places or boulevards
within the City and shall supervise.the erection, construction and repair of all
structures nowupon the same or hereafter_to be_ereeted thereon, and all cellars,
vaults, conduits, pipes or. tubes now.under the same or hereafter to be constructed
or placed thereunder. He shall perform such other.duties as shall be assigned to h
him by redinances or by ditection of the Council He shall act under the direct-
ion and control of the Commissioner of Public Works.
Section is .,The street superintendent shall receive as full compensation
for all duties required of him the sum of - - - -- .dollars per month, payable as
the salaries of other City officials are paid.., $e shall have tie aid of such as-
sistants as the Councilmay hereafter.award him.
Section 4.... ._•Before .enter.ing upon the duties of his office heshall execute a
bond in the penal sum of --- - - - - -- dollars. Said Bond to be approved by the Coun-

Section 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this
ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be together with the ayes and noes pub-
lished two days before its final passage, in the "Daily Telegram" , a daily news-
paper printed, published and circulated.inthe City of San Luis Obispp.'
