According to the Report of the City Treasurer the funds of some of the Depattments were over drawn. Oath of Office of Chief of Police Brewer during the absence of Chief of Police Cook was approved. Bond of WarrenB. Burch, was laid over until the return of City Attorney Gibbons. Seport of Poundkeeper Bcwdexy was_read and order to be placed on on file. Application for Permit for sewer connection was received from Union Hardware Co., for Robasciotti residence. Moved by Com- missioner Sinsheimer and seconded by Commissioner Andrews that the permit be granted. It was•moved by Comma -. sioner•Gowman and seconded by Commissioner Andrews that the City Attorney draw up papers and that work commence on Monterey street side walk opposite the Mission. Commissioner Gowman wsked'information as-to fire permits, 4L and from whom they obtained and if necessary. The-disired•in- formation was given. Commissioner Gowman also-spoke of sign - posts to direct tourists. The speed law was also discussed and auto lights. Commissioner Andrews asked information in re widening Monter- ey street north of Torro.:.City Engineer to visit place with Mr, Andrews, Mayor Stovar sgggestdd t an Advisory Board, to be com- posed of the business men and tax payers of the'City. Discus- - --�� ® sion. Ho action taken. The matter of license of Confetti Vendor during the fourth of July celebration was laid over until next meeting. The manager of the Stag Pool Rooms was called before the Coun- cil to'explain reasons for keeping open later than 12'0'clock -rw-l- one night and being strict in living up to the letter of the law. He was given a reprimand and it was impressed upon him that in the future that a strict observance of the law would be inforc- ed. Comissioner Gowman named M.S.Sanderp Captain of Police, his duties to commence Aug. let.. 19159 it was' moved by Commissioner SandeYs7 and ^sedonded:;.by;_emmmissioner Sinsheimer that the nomina- tion be accepted. Mayor, 1, 1 180 Bars Ada Prefumosrequested that the delinquent taxes on Lot 14, Block 173, be cancelled, it being a double assessment in 1 893 -94 .p It was moved by Commissioner Andrews and seconded by Commiss- loner Gowman that the assessment be.cancelled. Carried. In the future the matter of'cancellation of taxes is to be taken up with the Commsiioner of Finance and the City Attorney. The City Clerk asked for more information on the case of the �j S.P.R.R. Co. in re- Judson Estate. The Plat Books of the City and Countysbhow O.W.dudson owners of property referred to by S,P.R.R., the Assessment Rolla of both Eity and county show that GoW,Judson has paid assessments and is being asse@sed for siad property. Cite St6ginaey-Story and.County Recorder Mahoney could give no information od subject,not }laving maps of the S.P.R.R, possessions in this City. Discussion of the repairing of Morro street, Supt. of Streets Long stated that it would cost from $ 356400 to 500.00 to repair same. Matter to rest as to accepting work on Morro street. Mr Irvine of Chamber of Commerce, introduced Mr. W. Harra- den of Lynn, Mass. who spoke to the Council in re- lighting sys- tem,��Fog,he tex't2�ght.
