Mommissioners Dick Sanders, H.A.Gowman, Geo.- H.Andrews. . Absent L.F.Sinsheimer,who came in after roll call. Communication from Mozelle Beaulieu in re erroneous assessment 1915 -1916. Having been assed for a valuation of 6,800.00 instead.of 9 275:00. Said erroneous assessment was made on account of Mr Beau- lieu filing a building permit for a building to cost $-800.00 and then constructing a building for $n75.00. In the petition Mr Beau= s lieu aek for a reimburseront in the sum -of $10.65. It was moved by Dick Sanders and second by H.A.Gowman that the petition of Mr Beaulieu be granted. The motion was carried. The following building permits were received: - William Orr Lot 7 Bk, 12 Residence. Wood Cost 600.00 li.P.Childs:: Part lot 10,Bk 133.Residence Wood Cost 300.00 On motion of Geo H.Andrews seconded by Dick Sanders the permits -were granted. Application of I Tarioka,870 Palm street for lodging.house lic- ence. On motion of Dick.Sanders seconded by.Geo.H.Andrews the same was refferred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety. The application of Mrs -Dee Chapin,for lodging house license which A was.laid over at a previous meeting for the usual investigation -was grant- ed on motion of H.A.Gowman and seconded by Dick Sandere. The City Attorney stated that the claim of Chas..J.Freeborn, eon= stable,in the sum of S'..17.30, which was held out at a previous meeting for investigation.,.was legal and.should be paid. On motion of H.A.Gowman ,:and eeconddd'�by.Geo H..Andrews -the claim of Mr Freeborn was allowed. The City Clerk produced .a ... Postal..Money Order under date of Sept. 5th. 1914, for the sum of .614.41, which she.had found in her office. The remitter of the Order being Jas.P.Tait.and the payee, Ellen E. Winans. Said Money Order was..eent, according to letter attached, in pay- ment of last installment of taxes:on property assessed to. Magda Leslie in the year 1913 -14. Said taxes are.now delinquent, according to Book I of Tax Sales, Page 2109 and the Tax Roll of 1913 -14, Page 109. On motion of Geo H.Andrews seconded by H.A.Gowman the City Clerk was directed to return the said Money Order to Mr Tail with a request . that he renew the same and return to this.office, upon receipt of which the Clerk was directed to cancel said Tax Sales. The Budget of the Free Public Library for the year 1916 -17, signed by the Trustees of said institution also the annual .reports of the Secretary -and Librarian were read and ordered filed. The matter of amending License Ordinance No22 was brought up and mo th of September when the some would be the same laid over until the R9 acted on by an emergency ordinance. Mr Mason of the Midland Counties Publie Service Corporation made verbal application for permission to install a Marbelite Lighting Standard Lamp in front of said Company's place of business for dOn 1 1 1 monstration purposes, permission was granted that the work could pro- ceed with the understanding that a written application for permit be filed. ' Mayor Stover suggested.a method and submitted a diagram for the parking of automobiles in the center of the business streets. Mr Ryder of the California Polytechnic School addressed the Board in re advertising feature of the School Catalogue. He had hoped to have printed 20,0000 copies of the catalogue, but the school was not (� financially able to do so without assistance. He therefore. asked if �r it were :possible for the Council to help the movement in a.finaneial way. It was moved by Geo H.Andrews and seeonddd by L.F.Sinsheimer that the Council donate $ 200.00 toward the above movement. Roil Call: Ayes: H.A.Gowman,L.F.Sinsheimer, Geo H.Andrews,6J.M. Stover. The City Clerk.was directed to write said Company,.requesting that it furnidh the City of .San Luis Obispo with a statement of its Barrel Milage <in re said franchise and also ask per- mission to deposit the check on account. On motion of L.F.Sinsheimer and seconed by H.A.Gowman the meeting adjourned to Friday Sept..lst. 1916 at 9 O'clock.P.M. . Roll Call. Mr Mathews was present to inquire whether the Council had taken any action in re financial assistance for the San Luis Obispo Band, The Budget for the year 1916 -17 was then taken up and..discussed at lenght . It was moved by Geo.H.Andrews and seconed by L.F.Sinsheimer that the Library ..Fund be allowed 8 in the Tax Bevy .. Motion Carried: Discussion in re amount to be allowed in re bonded indebtedness. .City Attorney to look up data in re -using accrued:.surplus in--Bond Pmnd•to pay principal and interest on last bond issue. Diseussion.in re School estimates.
