It was roved by H. A. Gowman and seconded by L. i'. Sinsheimer that all ap-
pointive offices be declared vacant to take effect June lot, 1917. The motion
carried.
Mr. S. V. alright addressed the board relative to water for irrigation of
garden truck. It was moved by L. F. Sinsheimer and seconded by Howard B. Kirtland
that the City Clerk give notice through the press to the effect that those desiring
water for the purpose of irrigating garden truck, file application therefor with
the City Collector. The motion carried.
On motion of H. Gowman seconded by Howard B. Kirtland the meeting ad-
journed.

Council met in regular session with ttilayor Stover presiding.

The minutes of May 7th, 14th and 15th were read and approved as read.
shy --�- -P A communication was received from the Merchants Association inviting the City
Officials to participate in the observance of Memorial Day. It was moved by H. A.
Gowman and seconded by Howard B. Kirtland that the invitation be accepted; the
Merchants Association to be notified of the action of the Council.
A communication was received from Council No, 25 I.D.E.S. extending a cordial
invitation to the Mayor and Commissioners of the City of San Luis Obispo to partake
of a barbecue to be given by that order at Dania Hall, on Sunday, May 27th, 1917.
It was moved by L. F. Sinsheimer and seconded by John Chapek that the invitation
be accepted and acknowledged with thanks. The I.D.E,S. to be notified that as
many as could would attend.
Attorney William Shipsey addressed the Council in behalf of Vigo Hansen relative
�`T '/ to the City of San Luis Obispo pumping water from the Laguna. Mr. Hansen claiming
that the waters of the laguna covers a portion of his property and asks that the City
remunerate him for pumping right. The City Attorney stated that Mr. Hansen had no
legal claim against the City. After discussion the matter was deferred until
Commissioners Kirtland and Chapek could familiarize themselves with the matter.

On motion of H. A. Gowman eeoonded.by Howard B. Kirtland, the applications were granted.
Application of Ah Louis for 241 ft. of stone curbing on north side of Palm St'.
between Osos and Chorro St, and on the east side of Chorro St. between Palm and.Mill
St. Lot 4 Blk 15; also 20 ft. of stone curbing on the south side of Palm St. between
Chorro.and:Morro_•.S_ts., Lot_A Block 14.
The above application was granted on motion of L. F. Sinsheimer seconded by
John Chapek.
Applications received from.the Santa Maria Gas & Power Co. for permit for the
following work.
To lay a 2" main on Mill St. between Chorro & Broad St.
To lay service across street on Pismo St. between Santa Rosa & Toro Sts.
To lay.2" gas main in Broad St. between Peach and Stenner Creek Bridge..
The same was granted on motion of L. F. Sinsheimer seconded by Howard B. Kirtland.
The petition of J. W. Stumpf et al for a transfer of license'dor the Pioneer.
Rooming House and the Pioneer Restaurant, also Restaurant liquor license to Phil
George, said petition having been referred from a previous meeting for investiga-
tion, was granted on motion of H. A. Cowman seconded by Howard B. Kirtland.
The petition of J. D. Clark for a transfer of his Taxicab license to R. A.
Keeney was referred to the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety for report on
motion of L. F. Sinsheimer seconded by John Chapek.
The petition of Blaz Bosnjak for a transfer of his lodging house license to
Domingos Rozo was referred to Commissioner Gowman for investigation on motion of
L. F. Sinsheimer s conded by Howard B. Kirtland.
The license Ray Hearne for transfer wagon, was referred to Commissioner
Kirtland for action.
Mrs. weenie harden appeared before the Council and made several requests on
1j.. behalf of the yaoman's Civic Club. She asked that a lawn mower be purchased for
use at El Triangulo Park and the salary of the care -taker bf same be raised from
^ � 7 to $10 per month.
It was moved by H. A. Gowman and seconded by Howard B. Kirtland that the
Commissioner of supplies be empowered to purchase a lawn mower for the Civic Club
The motion carried.
It was moved by Commissioner Chapek and seconded by L. v. Sinsheimer that the
Civic Club be allowed an extra 0.00 per mo. (making the contribution per mo. to

Mrs, Warden also presented a proposition whereby the Civic Club would beau tifyr%

to fill in the rear of the lots, (property of Mrs. Warden and Mrs. Chandler) The
i' Commissioner of Public Works was averse::to this, until Mrs. Chandler showed some
disposition to comply with the City's request that she lay sidewalk in front of her
property. After discussion it was moved by L. F. Sinsheimer and seconded by
Howard B. Kirtland that the City Clerk notify Mrs. Chandler to lay sidewalk at once.
The motion carried.
On motion of H. A. Gowman. seconded by Howard B. Kirtland the bond of Mayor

It was moved by Howard B. Kirtland and seconded by H. A. Gowman that the
request of the Commissioner of Public Works be granted.
�^r Resolution No. 88 (New Series) in re allowing to property owners or tenants
�rn an additional 800 cubic feet of crater for the minimum charge now fixed, where ^
~ such wator shall be intended to be used and shall actually be used for the irriga-
tion of food products, was introduced.
. It was moved by Howard B. Kirtland and seconded by 'John Chapek that the Resolu-
