City Council met in regular session with Mayor Stover presiding.
ROLL CALL: Present, Commissioners H. B. Kirtland, H. A. Gowman, L. F. Sinsheirre r,
John Chapek, Tv. Y. Stover.
Absent, None.
The minutes of June 18th and 25th were read and approved as read.
A communication was received from C. A. Younglove, Chairman of Parade Committee.
r`R' of the County Wide 4th of July celebration to be held at Atascadero, extending an in-
vitation to the Cinmeil to represent the City of San Luis Obispo in the parade of
that day. On motion of H. B. Kirtland seconded by John Chapek the same was accepted.
The report of the City Collector for the month of June was received and ordered
filed.
Application received from Peter Schwafel for permit to construct a garame on
Lot 3, Block 109, cost of same tobe X50. On motion of L. b'. Sinsheimer seconded by
H- B- Kirtland the same was granted.

between Iiorro and Chorro St. Lot 5 & 6 Block 15
Thos. Shipman, 150 ft. full width cement sidewalk on the south side of Mill St.
between Torro and Santa Rosa St. Lot 7,8 & 9 Block 32,
Chas. D. St. Clair, 50 ft. cement park sidewalk, 7 ft. in width on the west side
of Santa Rosa St. between Mill and Palm St. Lot 8 Block 25,
Stafford Spencer, 100 ft. cement park sidewalk, 7 fti in width on the south side
Of trill St. between Santa Rosa and Osos Sts. Lot 7 Block 25,
Stafford Spencer, 45 ft. cement park sidewalk 7 ft. in width on the west side of
Santa Rosa St. between Mill and Palm St, Lot 7, Block 25.
On motion of L. r•. Sinsheimer seconded by -John Chapek the auove applications were
granted rith the understanding that the perk sidewalk be changed to full width
walk uaon order of the Council.
°y The building permit.of T. L. Greenleaf for a division fence between his
property and that of the City of San Luis•Obispo in Garden St. which was laid
over at a previous meeting was brought up.
It was moved by L. Y. Sinsheirer r.r_d. seconded by H. B. Kirtland that the
same be granted on condition that it does not obligate the City of San Luis Obispo
to build its portion of the fence.
Applications of Midland Co. Public Service Corporation for permit to open
street for purpose of laying service pipe for gas upon Chorro St. between Upham
and Islay St; on I:;orro 9t. between Church and Upham St. and on Pacific St. between
Iiipomo and Broad St. On motion of L. F. Sinsheimer seconded by H. B. Kirtland
the applications were granted.
The following applications were received from the Santa Maria Gas & Power
Co. for permit to open ditch from main to curb line on the following named streets;
On Ivill St. between Santa Roaa and Toro`: Sts.
On Santa Rosa St. between Mill and Peach Sts.
On Islay St. between Broad and Ilipomo Sts. and
On Santa Rosa St. between Pacific and Pismo Sts.
for the purpose of running gas service, also to open ditch for 200 ft. on the
south side of Francis St. between Broad and Victoria St. to la . service.

On motion of L. F. Sinsheimer seconded by John Chapek the applications were
granted.
Application received from E. C. Black for permit for sewer connection at
1306 Chorro St. between Pacific and Pismo St. On motion of L. F. Sinsheimer
seconded by John Chapek the application was granted.
On motion of H. B. Kirtland seconded by L. F. Sinsheimer, the application
of C. E. Lowe for Taxicab license was referred to Commissioner Gowman for in-
vestigation.
This being the date set for receiving bids for "Ban Luis Obispo Sewer Ex-
tension, Division G ", the clerk proceeded to open same. Following are the bids

The bid submitted by li..P. Cambar not being in proper form and not covering
the whole work was not considered.
�j'.J It was moved by John Chapek and seconded by L. F. Sinsheimer that the bid
ofK. Y. Payne being the lowest and best bid submitted, be accepted. The motion
carried.
It was moved by H. A. Gowman and seconded by L. F. Sinsheimer that the
checks accompanying the bids of the unsuccessful bidders be returned.
The applications for the regular quarterly licenses which were referred
at the last meeting for investigation were granted on motion of H. A. Gowman
seconded by H. B. Kirtland.
The bills for the month of June were read. It was moved by H. A. Gowman
and seconded by L. F. Sinsheimer that the bills.be paid.
The claim of P. A. H. Arata in the'sum of $25.00 for premium on official
bond of Commissioner Sinsheimer was ordered held for investigation.
Dr. Wade, member of Board of Health, called the attention of the Council
to the fact that the San Luis Obispo Creek needed cleaning and that sewers in
certain parts of the city should be flushed. On-notion of L. F. Sinsheimer
seconded by H. B. Kirtland the matter was referred to the Commissioner of
Public Health and Safety.
The application of T. A. Greenleaf -for 56 ft. of full width cement side-
walk on the west side of Chorro St. between Larsh and Pacific Sts., also a
building permit for a window in residence on Lot 17, Block 99, cost $35.00,
were granted on motion of L. F. Sinsheimer seconded by H. B. Kirtland.
It was moved by H. A. Gowman and seconded by L. F. Sinsheimer to adjourn
to Monday, July 9th, 1917 at 7 :30 P I;I. Roll Call:
