An agreement between M. S. Gularte and the City of San Luis Obispo, grant-
ing to the City of San Luis Obispo the right to erect and maintain fences along
the banks of certain rater courses etc. was presented and read by the City
Attorney. It was ,:loved by L. F. Sinsheimer and seconded by Ti. B. Kirtland
that the agreement be ratified by the Council and that the Mayor execute the
same. :he motion carried. :
J. ::I. Iiac Lean presented his claim in the sum of $250.00, sane being for
25 days work experting the accounts of the city: officials. from June 1st, 1915
to Iday 31st, 1917, it was moved by H. A. Gowman and seconded by H. B'.
Kirtland that the -clairn be allowed. The motion carried.
l'he matter relative to the building permit of Susan J. Stockton for a.
Pergola, the same having beer. referred at a ;revious meeting for investigation,
was taken up. It was moved by L. r'. Sinsheimer and seconded by H. A. Gorman
that the permit be granted. Islotion carried.
It was moved by L. F. Sinsheimer and seconded by H. A. - Gorman that $10-:000
be transferred from the eater fund to the "Seger Extension Nand 1917 ". 'Roll Call.

cussed. she matter was left in the hands of the City attorney and Chief of
Police.

On notion of L. F. Sinsheimer seconded by H. B. L'irtland the above ap-
plications were granted.
Applications were received from the I ;,idland Counties ; -ublic Service C6r-
poration and the Santa Laria Gas and Power Co. for permits to ,open trench for
the purpose of laying gas service on ilorro.St. between Church and Leff St. and
on 17arsh St. between Toro and Essex St. respectively; also from J. J. Andre for
Permit for sewer connection on Higuera St. in Block 61.
On motion of L. S. Sinsheimer seconded by H. A. Gov:man the anplications
mere granted.
Ap_rlicotion received from -Fernandez. Serephina for license to conduct a
lodging house at 1151 Broad St. It Tas moved by L. F. Sinsheimer and second-
ed by E. B. Kirtland that the matter be referred to the Commissioner of Public
Wealth and Safety for investigation.
The application_ of id.. E. Smith for Lunch Counter, which vas,.referred at the
last meeting for investigation was granted upon motion of H. A. GowmM seconded
by H. B. Kirtland.
A petition numerously signed by the residents of loner Ifiguera St. request -
ing that the Council devise some wT of stopping the speeding of Autor.,obiles in
that secion of the City, also that signs be placed to remind people of the speed
limtt, was received. After discussion, it was moved by L. P. Sinsheimer
seconded by Hi. ?.. Kirtland that the whole matter be referred to the Commissioner
of Public Fealth_ and Safet

Commissioner Gowman brought up the matter in regard to the obstructed view
of the street at the corner of French and Higuera St. caused by the cypress hedge
growing on the property owned by the 1.urphy Estate. Ur. illiam Shipsey, Attorney

for said Estate, suggested that the Council make_an.order that the hedge be re-
moved and thereupon he would take the matter up with said property owners.
It was moved by L. F. Sinsheimer and seconded by H. B. Kirtland t_iat the
obstruction oe removed under the direction of the Commissioner of Public
Health and Safety. The motion carried.
LTr. Shipsey also enquired as to the status of the matter . relative to the
claim of Vigo Hansen, that the City of San •'Luis Obispo remunerate him fdr
pumping rights at the Laguna. On motion of John Chapek seconded by H. A.
Go-,man the matter was referred to the City Attorney for.an opinion...
Three bills were presented by I.•. C•. Terra in the amounts of 942.30,.;225.45
and 9313.70 respectively, for hay. It was moved by E. A..Goaman and .seconded
by H. D. Kirtland that the bills be paid. The motion prevtiiled.
This being the date set f.or receiving bids for a "Street Lighting System"
the City Clerk _proceeded .to open same.
SnP:Th MLHIA GAS & .1101,7ZIZ CO., agrees to furnish, install, maintain and operate
a Gas.Street Lighting System in the City to consist of aa. initial compact unit of
not less than 100 lights, for the sum of 92.50 per light per month. Each addition-
al light at the same rate. Lights to be of the Two Mantle "Type D" Lamp, as now
in use in the City.
Standards furnished to be selected by the City of either Concrete or Fetal,
provided cost to company of same does-'not exceed Twenty dollars per standard..

(1) For lighting the City by Gas: If the City will install and maintain the gasolier
system at its expense, said Company will furnish gas at the following prices:
First year: free of charge
Second and
Third :ears; Q .15 per M Cu.ft.
under a contract for a term of three years. Or in lieu of the above proposition,
they will at their expense furnish and ir_stall and maintain the gasoli.er system,
the same to consist of gasoliers, approved by the City, and furnish the necessary
gas free of charge during the first year and at the rate of 5r .15 per Iii. cu.ft.
during Each year thereafter, providing a contract is made.of sufficient length in
accordance with .terms and conditions that.the Railroad Commission of this State
will approve, wherein the said Company will receive K�, on their investment in the
gasolier, system ,and in addition thereto a proper. earning _for maintenance, operation,
depreciation and amortization, the same to be approved as part of the contract by
the Railroad Commission.
(2) For lighting by Electricity, with the Series System or over head center suspen-
sion system, the following proposition was offered :'

(3)_5hould the City desire to install at its expense the Series System a) that

22 ¢ per K.`:+.H. for the next 75 hours of install d capacity per month and
1l¢ per z.'J.H . for all over.
